There were some fantastic could formations for the whole time we were at Shell Island - it may have had something to do with the rain that seemed to fall all around us (but luckily missed us on almost every occasion!)...

Back to Shell Island with Katie - this time for 3 or 4 days. It's always fascinating what washes up on the beach and while Katie concentrated on the shells I was more interested in out-of-the-ordnary stuff...

Volcanic ash from an eruption in Iceland has been drifting over Britain in the high atmosphere, grounding planes and intensifying the colours in the sunsets (or causing a semi-armageddon, depending on which newspapers you read). Taken on the Weaver Hills near Ashbourne.

This isn't a rain drop, but birch sap dripping down a tree trunk. With spring "delayed" by a few weeks thanks to the harsh winter it's only now that the birch sap is starting to surge its way up into the branches...

Sizergh Castle gardens near Kendal in the Lake District. A lovely garden, it's beauty slightly tempered by the cold and rain. A "late" spring meant there wasn't much growing either!
